The Czech Book Award is handed out every spring to one new work of prose published by a publisher in the Czech Republic during the past year. The aim of the award is to internationally promote quality Czech writing. Past winners of the award include Jan Němec, Jakuba Katalpa, and Jiří Hájíček. More information on the award is available at http://ceskakniha.com.
As part of this collaboration with the Czech Book Award we also support the winner of a Student Award – which is decided by a ten-member jury made up of secondary-school students – by providing the winner with a month-long residency in Krakow, Poland. In the past we have supported such writers as Kateřina Tučková, Iva Pekárková, Věra Nosková, and Bianca Bellová.
