Be Part of The Programme Focal Point: Redefining Space

The Creative Europe Desk Czechia in collaboration with Studio ALTA in Prague seeks for 12 inspiring examples of innovative approaches to space. Selected project will be presented in the International Conference Trans Europe Halles 93#.

Activities of all cultural organisations have been significantly affected in the past two years by the never-ending Covid pandemic and, in recent weeks, the war unfolding right here in Europe. Moreover, every day we can feel the effects of climate change which is reflected also in our work. How are organizations able to continue to function? How do they manage their resources, whether it is the space they inhabit or their teams that prepare a daily programme? We feel intensely that we are in a moment when we can and want to redefine the space in which we operate, our mission, our programme and our approach to ourselves.

FOCAL POINT: REDEFINING SPACE is part of the programme of the international conference Trans Europe Halles 93#, organized by Studio ALTA and taking place from 26 to 29 May 2022. The international network Trans Europe Halles (TEH) brings together cultural organisations that have emerged in abandoned spaces across Europe. Almost every one of them has revived or created a space that no longer fully served its original function and now benefits the general public, artists and creative people.

We are particularly interested in projects that represent the Czech cultural scene and the TEH member organisations.

Local and international projects will be selected from the submissions in collaboration between the Creative Europe Desk Czechia and Studio ALTA. It will be a 7-minute presentation in English.

FOCAL POINT: REDEFINING SPACE will take place on 28 May from 14:00 to 18:00 at Studio ALTA (West Wing of Invalidovna, Sokolovská 136/24, Prague Karlín). The event will take place in person (in English with interpretation into Czech) and will also be livestreamed.

Submission deadline is 22 April 2022.

Selected projects will be contacted in early May 2022.
